Off topic, but...looking for Pentium Pro to Slot 1 adapter

Post by KenB »

I am also looking for a Tyan M2020, Asus C-P6S1, Tekram P6SL1, or Abit KP6 riser card. This adapter/converter card allows the socket 8 Pentium Pro processor to be installed in a Slot 1 Pentium II/III motherboard.

And I'm still looking for anyone with an old 486 board with PCI and VLB slots.

Thanks guys. Just working on a few oldies for nostalgia/tinkering.[/img]

I used to have one of those, but I listed it on eBay right before Christmas. A guy in France bought it for $40. They're very hard to come by, apparently nearly all of them were made for Compaq so they could put Pentium Pros onto P2 motherboards in one model of server they made.
FIC VA-503+, Rev. 1.2, AMD K6-III+ 450@550MHz, 80GB Seagate ATA-100, 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 TV, TB Montego II Quadzilla, Win98se, 384MB PC100

Compaq Presario 1273, AMD K6-III+ 450@400MHz 1.8v, 40GB Samsung 5400RPM, extremely hacked Win98SE, 288 (yes, 288!) MB RAM
(Also an AMD FX-8350, which does the heavy lifting these days...)

I have seen one of them in a store here in Toronto. Don't know how much they wanted for it, cause I didn't ask. Wasn't interested. Checked Above All last night. Wasn't them. There is another place up in Markham I can check when I get up there.

Also, when I checked Above All, Steve said they had an ASUS AT board which is a Dual Pentium Pro board. Seems it has no sockets on board; but rather has a riser card with dual sockets. Complete with riser card and 2 Pentium Pros $20.00 Cdn if anyone cares. Asked about the P-Pros, (how much cache?) and Steve didn't know they came with varying amounts, said he would check, but that they were probably the minimum.

I too am looking for a Socket 8 slocket. I picked up the part numbers from a Want-It-Now post on Ebay and on the Pentium Pro Wikipedia page. Has anyone had any luck finding any? I have three Pentium II Overdrive processors I'm dying to play with on a 440BX or Via Apollo motherboard.

Dual Intel Pentium II Overdrive 350 (70MHz FSB) - Intel 440FX

Alright I went up to the store in Markham where I previously saw one of those things, today; but they were closed. Only open Monday to Friday. That means it will be difficult for me to get up there during business hours. Therefore those interested should indicate how much they are wiling to pay for one, so the next time I have a chance to get in there, if they are within your price range, I will pick one up for you, and we can deal with shipping details later. I will not be trying for a profit, rather just to help. If they want less than what you are willing to pay, then what they want plus shipping will be what you pay. The place in question has a sign posted that they only deal with distributors; but I have bought things there in past. They scrap large quantities of old machines.
