Peter,
Did one quick test with Hotcpu last night with the board running at 100fsb. The cpu running at 600MHz.
Without showing the details it managed 1113 pts. As I think Jim has shown in the past with Superpuppy 2 running the multiplier at 5.5 shows big gains in memory write figures on the ALI V chipset and of course this has been shown with other chipsets. Running at 6x the Everest MW figure was 132. At 5.5 this jumps to 165.
I did get the board to boot and run at 115MHz with the cpu at 632MHZ. However it did not complete a Superpi run at this speed. I think it is down to the cpu as the board did complete Superpi at 575MHz. This was also with the onboard cache on. I will go through my other K6-III+ cpu's and see if I can find one stable at this higher speed of 632MHz.
It is nice to have a play with the old board again.

fastest super socket 7 mainboard?
Hmm, might have to go the Phase Change cooling route, expensive though I suspect.

I have seen a few 503+ (or PA-2013) in North America claimed to beUranium235 wrote:I don't have the 503+ in front of me right now but there is at least six caps leaking or bulging on my motherboard. If I was to invest the effort into fixing it I may as well replace all the caps for durability. I may still fix it anyway because these boards are almost impossible to find in good condition.
working, at prices from $50-$200! Once I saw a listing for "CPU K6
motherboard" with no model number. I recognised the photo as the FIC
beasty, but the seller could not be bothered posting it to another country.
It did not sell - I could have got it for one Euro....

Not so sure that the Via chipset can be put down so easily against the Ali chipset.
Put the Epox EP MVP3-G2 into the identical set up that the Asus P5A was in. For the cpu set at 5.5x100 I carried out the Everest bench and came out with
MR/MW/ML 307/157/218
This was after setting wpcredit to activate read around write.
Superpi 1M came in at 5m 06sec which is pretty much exactly the same as the P5A board.
I will see what I can get with 5.5x112 and see if it matches the Ali result.

Geez! At $50-$200 I might just fix the board instead of finding a replacement.I have seen a few 503+ (or PA-2013) in North America claimed to be working, at prices from $50-$200! Once I saw a listing for "CPU K6

Using the MVP3 WPcredit tweaks supplied by Jim and others to the EP-MVP3-G2 board at 616Mhz (5.5x112) I got for Everest
MR/MW/ML 347/182/197
Superpi (1M) 4m 32s
Just a fraction shy of the score I got with the asus P5A running at the same speed. However not a bad score at all and maybe with some more little tweaks it might just get sub 4m 30s.
