Don Pedro you are the expert on this, so help please. There is someone with an "NVidia NForce 520/560 32 bit" video card who updated their driver for that card with a download from the NVidia site, and now his card doesn't work properly. I know that the newer drivers don't always work with older cards, but this guy says that every time he trys to download the driver for his 520/560 32 bit card the system shows he is getting the NVidia 7300 SE / 7200 GS Driver. Please help him. Regards, Jim

I would like to help but you I have no information on who, where, why, ...

anyway, maybe you can relay something to the unknown person:

nforce 520/560 is a chipset (made by nvidia), not a grafics cards. there was a time when nvidia competed in that market ....

so when one sets up a system based on a motherboard with that chipset he/she should go HERE and set up the dialog like in the screenshot given. I had no problem downloading the latest driver (2009) for win xp via this dialog ..

from what I assume from your writing the person uses an nvidia 7xxx class grafics card because if one uses the other option on the aforementioned page then nvidia tries to find out what driver one needs. it does so via some java program ... nvidia then delivers the driver for this card.

so what is this person trying to do? does he/she need drivers for the chipset or the grafics card? what are the specific problems?

Well apparantly he has the name of his card wrong, if I understand him correctly he is using a video card, not on board graphics.

What happened is he updated the driver for the card, and it stopped working thereafter.

You know how it is with that, too new a driver for an older card, and the card stops working.

What I am going to have to do is get him to properly identify what card he is using, then you can tell him what driver to use and maybe give him a link that will enable him to download the right driver.

to determine what the system is made of this tool "speccy" tells it conveniently.

also here is a link to the archive for nvidia drivers (xp, 2000), beginning april 2002
