How did you attach heatsink on Northbridge chip on MVP3?
I'm stable at 112FSB and want 124. How to securely attach heatsink to MVP3 northbridge chip, and did you use a fan? Thanks for any input!

P.S. Thanks, I've got my answers. XRoyal, no need to remove the post...
Others may want to look at it later to see what you did to fix the problem. Feel free to describe what you ended up doing!
<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
Mr Toastz

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/umrtoastz.show ... uage=EN>Mr Toastz at: 7/2/01 1:44:22 am

I used a very thin coat of elmers with very good effect. That way I can pop it off later if I need to.

Still need to buy the baby fans for the heatsinks though...
AMD K6III+ 550 @619 2.2v~ DFI K6BV3+/66 Rev B 2 MB~ Cardex GF2 MX 400 4ns GS 250/250~ 256 MB Micron PC133 CAS2~ Aureal SQ2500 (I will miss Aureal)~ Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 45 46.1gb ~ etc etc etc

Never could custom fit a fan to my rig - not worth it.

The 2mb L3 cache on my m/b hates any FSB over 100, and I'm not losing the extra performance connected to disabling it. Since it caches my 128Mb ram, emulators run 10 FPS slower with my L3 disabled!

Other applications are adversely affected too, while yet others show no degradation in performance without the L3. Depends on the circumstances.

I've heard the less L3 you have , the better chance of hitting higher FSB. People with 512K sometimes hit 124 FSB - good luck!

Still, I'm a happy K6er at 100FSB.........................

Deanodarlo transformed into Spirits247. mbmulkey gives you the best scoop
I'd go with the previous reply, thermal adhesive is better than superglue, although I've used it in a pinch. But, superglue can easily flow onto your board and then there's trouble.
