A 2.0v K6-III (no +)?

Post by mulvihill »

Has anyone heard of a 2.0v K6-III(no+) 450 MHz that was released after the K6-III+ and has the same performance as a III+?<br> <p></p><i></i>

If you have one, you might find that it is a K6 IIIP - a mobile product that has a 2v core.<br><br>Spec is here:<br><br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content ... <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--> <p></p><i></i>

I didn't buy it. I wanted to find out a little more about it first.<br>You were quite right Graham; it was the K6-IIIP which carries an ACK designation which apparently is an 80 degree rating but it is a 25 micron chip with only the standard 3D Now instructions and, as you can imagine, does not overclock very well at all. I think I'll wait for an ACZ. <p></p><i></i>

k63p where?

Post by kgh002 »

I have and ams tech roadster that does not support the + line, but the k63p sounds like it would run great, so do you remember where you saw it, and how much was it? <p></p><i></i>

K6-IIIP

Post by mulvihill »

I saw it on <!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... <!--EZCODE LINK END-->.<br>Keep in mind that this is a 25 micron chip and doesn't carry the extra instructions of the plus chips. That seller on eBay is, shall we say, given to hyperbole. <p></p><i></i>

$69.99?

Post by kgh002 »

Seems like a bit much for a non plus k63, I got a k63+ 400 (yes 400 not 450) for $30 and it clocks well at 124*4.5 <p></p><i></i>

Not worth it

Post by mulvihill »

There was a K6-IIIP 433 went the other day on eBay. I don't know what it went for but I'm sure it wasn't $69 as it wasn't being the same as a plus chip. I see there is a new retail K6-III in a box with a manual on eBay but you have to search it as K6-3.<br>You did well on that +400. Anytime you wish to make a tidy profit on it, let me know. <p></p><i></i>

From the standpoint of rarity it may justify the price; but K6+s are a lot cheaper; and will also go over 600. 298.00 is not cheap!!

Nope! You understand Chinese? I sure don't; just saw the numbers. Usually prices are quoted in USD or Euros. Makes me wonder about the K6-3+550AGR that I saw for sale for 283.00 in Taiwan.

LOL ... You can imagine my surprise when login here for the first time in years and see that a thread I started 5 years ago is still a hot topic.
I just had a P/I P55T2P4 land in my lap and am back to refresh my knowledge of this old classic. I still have a couple of + chips, a K6-2+ and a K6-3+, both of the ACZ variety, and am considering another run at K6 optimization, but for that, I will start a new thread.

Wellcome back!! Still appreciate you teaching me how to avoid the "Shutdown problem" w/ Win98-SE. "Q" Do you know how to solve it w/ WINXP-PRO? I am having the same prob w/ my XP boot on SP3. AT Supply, ATI Radeon AIW 9000 on a DFI K6BV3+/66. Funny thing is, it shutdown OK after Windows was loaded, and after the mobo drivers were loaded, and after Windows was updated. But as soon as the 9000 card driver was loaded, it started hanging at the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen instead of going on to the "It Is Safe To Shut Off Your Computer" screen. Any ideas?
