Info on Patriot PBCX400/1 Mini Desktop?

Post by grahamv »

I've seen a couple of auctions for this item. Small footprint (12" x 10" x 3"), sound & graphics onboard, Socket 7 format.

Seems the company went bust & I can't find any specs. Does anybody have any info on the possibilities for this beast? Can it take a K6 plus, what are the clockspeed, voltages etc?

Looks potentially interesting, but I don't know enough to make any decision at the moment.

I know nothing about this board.

I have 2 suggestions...

1)www.motherboards.org

2)do a google search with pbcx400 as your topic. I did this with another board and was pleasantly suprised at the number of pages that came up!

Patriot=PC Chips?

Post by fireburns »

Graham,

I couldn't find anything on the PBCX400(yet), but I did find a few pages on the PBCX300.

The board looks like something put out by the PC Chips VAR group (Amptron, Eurone, PC Wave, etc). I'll do some more digging to see what info I can find. They put out a line of machines called "Book PC's", which look like similar units.

In the meantime, you might want to check over at the PC Chips lottery to see if anybody has any info.

www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/

-fire

Fuzzy Logic...

I can't be sure, but if I had to guess, I'd say the board you're looking at is a BKMVP4, made by Amptron. I found a specks link on Google to Amptron's site, but the actual link appears to be dead. Just in case:

www.amptron.com/html/bkmvp4s.html

Cached:

<a href="http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o"> XEGH6bY1ncC:www.amptron.com/html/bkmvp4s.html+Bkmvp ...

King V mentions it on his list, but there's not a whole lot of info...

In other strange news, it looks like the team of Patriot/Amptron put out a line of PC's based on Mattel's Barbie and Hot Wheels line of toys...

-fire

Crap.

One of these days I'm going to remember that EZ Board and URLs don't mix so well. Let's try this again:

Cached

<a href="http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache:oX ...

Many thanks for the leads. Gave some interesting reading, but I've come to the conclusion - for several reasons - that this isn't going anywhere.

As for the machines, the first has already been auctioned - sadly at a good buyer's price, then the guy selling the second has set a high reserve and an outrageous "buy it now" of GBP250.

The real disappointment was at the Amptron website. Though the page given by the link states socket 7, the downloaded manual specifically says socket 370. Plus the fact that the bios link no longer works. There are some similarly named mobos, and one of these might have been the one I really needed, by that stage my frustration reached it peak.

P'raps we should stick with what (we think) we know after all.

Patriot power supply

Post by marg100 »

help
where can I buy a power supply unit for Patriot pbcx400 series (a mini mini desktop). This uses a 6 pin female connector for motherboard (as 2 rows of 3 pins), size of power unit is not important as can sit outside the desktop box but the 6 pin connector is important.
