AMD K7 Drivers on K6

Post by cooliscool123 »

I heard about being able to use K7 drivers on a K6 under windows XP? Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

I don't want to sound cheap as I'm getting my new system this month, but for now I'm going on a K6 tweak spree. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">

AMD K6-2 500@558 (4.5x124 FSB)
nVidia GeForce4 MX 420 PCI
256MB PC-133 SDR @ 124MHz
Aureal Vortex Advantage PCI Audio
MiTAC 5114VU Via Apollo MVP4/Hyperion 4-in-1
Microsoft Windows XP Pro
Award Modular Bios 6.00PG [11/7/01]
Bellsouth Fastaccess ADSL - Westell WireSpeed External (1536/256)
Lite-On Communications LC82C115-Based 10/100 Ethernet Adapter

PC Mark 2002 Scores - CPU: 1200 | MEM: 910 | HDD: 640 | 124MHz FSB helped. Can't shed any light on that issue.

Just wondering how you could possibly have gotten over 3000 in 3DMark2001. The highest score on MadOnion with a true K6-2 and non DX8 card is about 1300. The highest K6-2 score is just over 3000, and that was with a Radeon 9700Pro.

The highest K6-3+ score with a non-DX8 vid card is less than 1700.

I have read that you can do this a few times though I have never had the chance to try.
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVV
Athlon XP 1600+@1.82ghz(9x202) V Duron 1.1ghz V pentium 2 350@490
Crucial PC2700 Cas2.5 fastest settings v 384mb pc133 ram V 256mb pc133
Epox 8k9a2+(kt400) V iwill KK266+ V Asus P2B
Radeon 8500@280/340 V matrox g400 V matrox G400
Sound Blaster Live V 20gigs V IBM 13gb
2xWD 20gb 7200 RPM raid 0 setup V 16x10x32 Samsung V Windows XP
1xWD 20gb 7200 RPM V windows XP V No sound
16x10x40 Yamaha burner V 5.1 onboard soundV 32x cd rom
52x Asus CD-ROM V 3com NIC V 3com NIC
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVV

What settings were used? I was running @ 640x480x32, no fsaa, pure HW tnl, compressed textures, and it was a clean format & install of winXP.

I guess I was talking default settings of 1024x768x32 bit, but no one on madonion has higher scores at lower resolutions either. I didn't think lowering the resolution would make that much difference since the GF4 MX is not DX8 and can't run test 7, thus can't get any score for it.

well ya it would make a difference, since you would get higher scores in each test, making your score higher.
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVV
Athlon XP 1600+@1.82ghz(9x202) V Duron 1.1ghz V pentium 2 350@490
Crucial PC2700 Cas2.5 fastest settings v 384mb pc133 ram V 256mb pc133
Epox 8k9a2+(kt400) V iwill KK266+ V Asus P2B
Radeon 8500@280/340 V matrox g400 V matrox G400
Sound Blaster Live V 20gigs V IBM 13gb
2xWD 20gb 7200 RPM raid 0 setup V 16x10x32 Samsung V Windows XP
1xWD 20gb 7200 RPM V windows XP V No sound
16x10x40 Yamaha burner V 5.1 onboard soundV 32x cd rom
52x Asus CD-ROM V 3com NIC V 3com NIC
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVV

He means that the more tests you run = the higher score.
AMD K6-II 500@558MHz (4.5x124MHz)
256 MB PC-133 @ 124MHz
VisionTek nVidia GeForce4 MX 420 PCI
MiTAC 5114vu (Via Apollo MVP4 chipset)
Microsoft Windows XP Pro

I knew you said it, but i was just trying to help you since apperently blue's english isn't 'proper enough' for you. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">
AMD K6-II 500@558MHz (4.5x124MHz)
256 MB PC-133 @ 124MHz
VisionTek nVidia GeForce4 MX 420 PCI
MiTAC 5114vu (Via Apollo MVP4 chipset)
Microsoft Windows XP Pro
