[Mr Toast] No, multiplier adjustment only works with + cpu's

Post by Ye Olde Forum »

Posted 6-1-2001 07:05

The K6-x+ series of chips were targetted for notebooks, and included the PowerNow! feature, which throttled back the CPU to save battery power. It did this by lowering the CPU multiplier, and its power requirements as a result.

We use these in the desktop CPU's as they overclock better than previous K6-x's, and include some additional 3dnow instructions not found in the earlier cpu's.

I am not sure if the other features of CTU would work with a regular K6-x. Email RobM to make sure...
