Anyway what dos this vb command really do and where did you find out about it? Thansk.

Jon

Use FreeMem at analogx.com

It will show you how much memory you are freeing up and gives you options as to how much you can free with a click of a mouse

I too use MaxMem and agree that it is a sweet little proggie. Using Photoshop and rippin CDs really burns up the PMem. I just wish it would start with Windows- but I aint complainin.

Actually, I think you can get it to...

Post by Mr Toastz »

Either put it in your startup tray, or there may be a way to write a script to get it to start up with windows...

Thankyou Mr. Toastz. I moved it into the startup folder (W98SE), rebooted and "presto", there it sits, amongst a bevy of useless little craplets that I really must edit out one of these days. There is great joy in Canada today!

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
P/I P55T2P4 ver 3.10 (rumors of it's untimely demise were overstated)
K6-2+450 @ 500 (2x83)

As to how to get the useless stuff out of the startup tray..

Post by Mr Toastz »

From my tweaking preparation article...

Quote:

An easy way to remove unwanted programs on future startups is to click your start tab, choose run, and type msconfig. Hit the startup tab and that will show you which programs load each time the system starts up. Uncheck the programs you know you don't need (i.e. if you don't use RealPlayer all the time, uncheck it), and then click apply (remember to note what you shut off in notepad in case you shut off an essential program or something). then click apply and restart. You should see a lot less icons in your startup tray now!

This helps free up CPU resources, and your benchmark results will improve as a result.

Hope this helps too!

Six "craplets" are now "toast". (They've gone to a better place.)
Still grinning.
