I found it. This also works in situations like mine, WinME/WinXP. I followed all 6 steps outlined and now, no more Dual-Boot AND my WinME installation was left alone and undamaged.

<a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... hey blue,

try and follow this:

this happened on a friends PC.

It started with win95.

I formatted and installed win98, on partition "C"

A year later I installed win2k, which set itself up on partition "E" (D was the CD rom drive). Win2k made it a dual boot 98/2k system.

Last month, I formatted the win98 parition (C), and then clean installed WinXP on C. I thought XP would detect the win2k partition over at E and set up a dual boot loader, but it didn't happen, it just boots off of the C partition as winXP every time and I don't know how to manually edit the boot.ini file to give an option to boot off the old Win2k (E) partition again.

What should the boot.ini file look like?

IO333, I've read your post 5 times and I am still cornfused. You got some weird (complicated) setup over there dude. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> Then again, if your doing programing and want to check things out on diff. OS's, you sure got that covered nicely.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/uazk6er.showPu ... >AZK6er at: 4/13/02 5:35:31 am

While we're on the subject of dual booting, I've go my K6 system dual booting with W98SE/W2K.
I need to reformat and reinstall W98 but this is going to stuff up my boot options isn't it?
What's the procedure for fixing this?
PS. I recently had a problem with W2K and had to use the recovery console along with the ERD disc to get out of it. Worked fine except that I had to reinstall just about all my hardware.
Is this normal?

RevheadMorgan1.2G, K7S5A, Coolmaster EP5-6151, 128DDR, 40G 100/7200, Kyro264M, Fortissimo II, W98SE.K6-III+450@600(6x100) 2.1v, FOP32, SP-A586B, 256M PC133, 20G 100/7200, GeForce2MX40032M, Vibra128, W98SE.
