DFI K6BV3+/66 Rev B+

Post by Mickey »

Hello all!!!
This is my first post here, so don't scream on me <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
I have a DFI K6BV3 /66 Rev B mainboard and I try overclock my K6-2 500MHz to 600MHz but this mainbard haven't got 6.0 multiplier, but I saw that Mr Toastz overclocked an 550@619.
Please tell me how to do that.
How change frequency above 100MHz, or change multiplier???

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/bk6plus67153.s ... >Mickey at: 5/25/02 4:18:31 am

You can use the 2x multiplier, the K62 remaps this to 6x. Good luck getting that K62 to 600MHz, you'll need it! Mr Toast's overclocked CPU that you mentioned is a K6-3+ 550, not a K62. K62s are notoriously poor overclockers, but K6-2+ and K6-3+ CPUs overclock reasonably well for their clockspeed. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 234/530
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40 CD-RW | Asus 40x CD-ROM | Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

Also, you will need CPUCool or a similar program

The IC Controller chip has some FSB settings that can be changed using software while in the windows environment (i.e. no need to change jumpers).

The program I use is CPUCool, which can be found at:

www.podien.de

My board uses a winbond w83194-58a (I think that's the number) IC Controller chip, which has a 103, 112, 115, 120, and 133 MHz bus setting. 120 is the best I have ever been able to do without locking up almost immediately though...

Also, does your board have 1MB or 2MB onboard cache? If you have 2MB, you will almost certainly have to disable the cache to do better than 103 MHz.

Hope this helps!

Finaly my K6-2 500Mhz (2,2V, 38^C) working at 582Mhz (6*97Mhz, 2,5V, 50^C)
Processor wouldn't work at 6*100Mhz even at 2,9V <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /frown.gif ALT=":(">
But It is nice. At least my DivX films plays fluently <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Thanks again for all advice.
You are the best <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Quick question...

Post by Mr Toastz »

Do you have 103MHz available? Again, cpucool will allow you to change to this speed while in the windows environment (i.e. no need to change jumpers).

If so, 5.5 x 103 (567 MHz or so) might give you slightly better overall performance (memory, etc running at higher bus). Just a thought...

Yes It work fine at 103MHz.
I don't see diference from 582 and 567 so I put it to 103MHz <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
Thanks for sugestion.
