"D" Drive = "Software"

You have to LOVE those programs that are so independant of "Windopes", that even if "C" Drive is wiped and "MS" is reinstalled, they still work without having to be reinstalled themselves; provided they were safely sitting installed on another drive when "C" was wiped.

e.g. Bitstream "Font Navigator"; ULead "Photo Impact 4"; Broderbund "Click Art"; Cyberlink "Power DVD 4" etc.

A setup consideration I thought I'd pass along.

I would like to add two more programs

- EditPad Lite (editor)
- XnView (picture viewer)

which store their system-settings in their own directory (and not in the system's paths and/or registry) when configured that way.

The only thing that could be an issue with this are any "important" registry settings that are written during the install process.

If the program contains a "setup_file.reg", this would really make things easy to fix.

It certainly makes un-installing the program a breeze.

On the other hand, loading "private copies" of system DLL's, etc... can cause your system to utilize more RAM...
