Hello together, I just wanted to build up another retro machine around this mobo but the battery is empty and soldered to the board. Is there any chance to fix this without too much work?! I stumbled through different older threads on the net and it seems to be quite tricky? Just asking as I don´t want to loose more nerves on it... if it goes only with soldering I will skip the board into the recycling box...

Probably the : capman@att.net could fix it for you; BUT I've no idea what it would cost. Ideally you could have him remove the battery from the board; and substitute a battery holder that could take replaceable batteries of the same voltage specification. You could try emailing the capman to see what he would charge.

Hello together,
unfortunately it seems as I have flashed the board to death
I tried several award-flash-utilities but the most just crashed, finally I used the pflash-utility, I remember I´ve read about this one to be used together with this board somewhere. With this utility I was able to flash the BIOS, but it seems there was something going wrong, as the board doesn´t boot anymore. Sometimes I guess I have a different revision of the board as it boots always as P55T2P4C... maybe the patched BIOS by Jan Steunebrink wasn´t compatible with it?!
Anyway, I decided to kick it to the recycling-box lately...

Argh! That's too bad.
If I remember correctly, that was one of the early HX based boards that supported 512MB (huge at the time) of 72pin ram, and was unofficially able to support the K6 line (which only came out about a year or two AFTER the board was RTM).
I remember reading about putting a K6III on it on TomsHardware back in '05 or so. Would be a fun project.

Yes, this Board runs like a charm with a K6III.
I saved a whole PC from the trash in 2007 and
found a P55T2P4 in it, capable of jumping the right
voltage. 75Mhz is stable for the bus
Its very fast against MMX an no Cache K6.
This Onboard battery is crap, but i will not give up
if this battery is empty. i should measure the pinouts
before the cell says goodbye.
The stupid thing is, i have to many hardware stuff to
carry about everything. the last thing i did with this
PC was playing quake 2 years ago
