can't edit

Post by mulvihill »

Since I can't stay logged in long enough to edit I'm having to reply to my own topic. It seems it is just this site on this computer. My two other computers don't have this problem and this computer is OK at all other forums. Any ideas?

Apparently, according to EZboard, the source of the login problem is IE6-SP1, the latest high security version of Internet Explorer. They are suggesting that I set IE's security settings to zero. I DON'T THINK SO. This, however, is not a complaint about inane advice but rather a warning about SP1. My experieces with removing or replacing IE with an older version have not been pleasant. I'm going to lodge my complaint at msnews and then I'm going to load some browser other than Netscape. Any suggestions?

Only problem with that theory is that I've got IE6 SP1 and I haven't had any problems recently.

Could try Mozilla. Says Custom. Think it changes to that if you change stuff in the Advanced tab.. It's certainly higher than zero though.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 231/524
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Western Digital WD800JB 80GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40x CD-RW | Toshiba 16/48x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

You were right Nohr. It just went away. I have a real hard time with things that are not explainable.

Well now today I had to log myself in once and now when I try to 'mark forum read' it takes me to a blank page that just says "not authorized". Weeeee..
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 231/524
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Western Digital WD800JB 80GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40x CD-RW | Toshiba 16/48x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

Me too.

Post by mulvihill »

Not only can I not log in with the rig with SP1 but the computer that I am presently using as well. This unit has IE6 but not SP1. Between the above two log in attempts I was able to easily log in with Netscape 7.
I just posted a reply to that effect on this thread before going to check out results at 5 other forums, where I had no such problems. When I got back the post was gone.

Stupid thing.. At least the 'mark ALL forums read' thing works.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 231/524
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Western Digital WD800JB 80GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40x CD-RW | Toshiba 16/48x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

Solved

Post by mulvihill »

Well, I think I've solved the problem. EZBoard help reported that there are login issues using IE6 SP1 while viewing through frames. I have been linking to 50 megs and viewing EZBoard through the frame. I now do it the other way around and it works great. As an added bonus, I view the forum with a larger screen.

Ahh that makes sense. I always come to the forum seperately, not through the front page. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 231/524
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Western Digital WD800JB 80GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40x CD-RW | Toshiba 16/48x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional
