Post by Old Elf »

I have some ideas on how to cool the K6+
cpus to run faster with out the problems
of the pelters, by adding some componits
to it to make it more easy to use.

i agree. liquid He if you can get it is even better. You won't be having any condensation problems on your mobo if you can find some liquid He. You might have heavy condensation problems on the outside of your house though! also be sure not to touch it or your penis will fall off and shatter into a million pieces. i can say penis here because it is not a curse word and because it is true about the shattering

not if this procedure is followed:

immerse the board in liquid n2. turn on the refrigeration unit until the liquid n2 freezes and continue to lower the temp 'till around 30 degrees kelvin. then slowly pour in the liquid helium and turn on the helium refrigeration unit. leave the unit on for several hours until lowest stable temperature is achieved (you should be below 20 kelvin now). switch on mobo and o/c as usual. (note, make sure your hard drive is outside the refrigeration apparatus)

seriously -- I almost pelted my k6-3+. Almost. I know exactly what to do. I even have a QUART of dow corning conformal coating (about $500 retail -- long story). The short of it is that I LIKE my motherboard and don't feel like having moisture all over the place all the time. I don't feel like gluing and gooing all over my motherboard and wonderful k6-3+ to try to keep it from getting coroded. I also don't feel like having liquid running through tubing all around my motherboard to take the heat off. There's too much to go wrong. I'd never be able to walk more than a few feet away from my system without worrying that it was gonna start shorting out all over the place and I wouldn't be there to nail the power-off button. The way it is now, I can leave it up and running for MONTHS and I know nothing will happen to it (well, except for the lightning thing!). Even if my HSF fan unit fried, the chip would be fine as the HS alone even sans fan would keep it cool enough at idle.

Stability and security are just better than a few oz. of extra mips. At least for me. Just MHO.

peltiers are eazy to do, you put them on, under the heatsink then you put it ontop the cpu, then get out some cock(no not your cock) and cock the outside of it around the heatsink and cpu
