Well, it is working...

My mem bench went up a tiny bit (could have had a pizza delivered in the time it took Sandra to bench it though;12 minutes?)

189/193 at 600 (6x100) 768MB 4x interleave CAS2

3DMark 2K1 won't run (reboots system), but I may be able to get it to work if I back off on my tweaks.

Temp is up an average of 7 degrees over 256k levels. This happened the last time I tried this too.

The last time I tried this I had 512MB in unmatched sticks (256 MB Micron PC133 4 bank, 128 MB Micron PC100 4 bank, 128 Kingmax PC150 2 bank). now let me tell you how to do it
you need to make a 256MB ram drive
you will definitely need to set the MP3's latency to 0
to improve sound quality,
use CTU to allocate only 512MB of ram
this should help drop your temp, speed up your system. and improve stability.
good luck let me know how it works out

PS if it crash switch to cas 3 or change some wpcredit
settings. back to default.

Not sold on the extra ram

While it is cool to have 768 MB running fairly stable while browsing or using Photoshop, the bottom line is that I am not seeing any significant gains over 256 MB. I am sure they are there, but I can't 'feel' them.

Those looking to upgrade ram, here are my thoughts at this time:

64 to 128 MB. You should have done this a long time ago

128 to 256 MB. I did see some nice performance gains doing this, and my system is very happy with 256 MB.

256 to 384 MB. I understand that UT and some other apps like 384 MB, but I didn't see any appreciable gains myself (other than in CPU heat). Note that going past 256 MB on my 2MB cache board changes write thru to write back mode (which affects performance slightly). Those with 1MB or less would already be in write back mode.

Over 384 MB- Unless you are a Photoshop power user or something, all I can see you gaining is heat (from the Chipset working extra hard to keep track of the extra memory addresses).

My 2 cents, anyways...
