DFI K6XV3/+66 revBB+ Boot Problem

Post by jrbach00 »

It's OK to laugh at this one, I've been laughing at myself for over a month about it and for not asking sooner...

I'm laughing, because this is actually my first ATX mobo...
Every time I boot, I get this message and the audible Eh-Uh:
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT YOUR DAMN SYS-DISK DUMMY & Press SOMETHING!

I can warmboot and get the same message or power-down and get it on coldboot...or it will go right into Win'98 SE fast! I have NO problems once it takes, but I swear...I DO NOT know why it won't boot from cold...it appears to have the latest BIOS as received...

Any Ideas??? It's got me laughing and Freaking at the same time! I thought I saw something on this a long time ago, but I could NOT find it anywhere using searches...TIA!!

OK, we discussed this in the chat room with jrbach00 this morning, and came up with a couple of things to try...

1)Changing boot order from a:c: to c:a: and see if problem would go away

2) Clearing the CMOS and see if that would fix it

3) Flashing the BIOS

We haven't heard back yet to see what worked. Let us know!
My sig

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/umrtoastz.show ... uage=EN>Mr Toastz at: 8/4/01 10:55:22 pm

OK...finally had a chance to slap it around...No Luck!

1) Pretty much as I thought, this had zero affect.
2) This was worth a try, but had zero affect.
3) Was betting on this one...Zero...Nada...Crapppp!

Still takes at least 2 coldboots and warmboots for it to take, otherwise, I receive that friggin message!

I was thinking of backing off to the prior BIOS, but I don't have it here...off to look for it...BTW, DFI's site has that worm-hack..."hacked by the chinese"...sadly enough, it's on the BIOS download page...Arrrrrggggghhhh!!!!

Are you saying that DFI has got the CodeRed virus?

Jeez...some shithead admin needs to get the boot there dont they. The freakin patch has been free on MS for how long now?? Dumbass admin there

As for your problem, not sure. Try some bios tweaks such as setting for slow bootup, etc.
