is this right?

Post by hamb1028 »

I have a k6-2+ 500 on an ASUS p55t2p4 rev 3.1. My autoexec.bat reads like this:
setewb 1
K6waon 160
K6wc.exe e6000008 32

video card is voodoo3 pci with beta driver

after startup I run K6 speed and floor it, then start netmedic, then go online. With this setup I have finally got past the "cpu at 100%" warning on netmedic. but it still gets close, 90% or so a lot. Is there a better way to max out this cpu on this motherboard? I am happy, but just wondering if anybody knows a better way. Also, question #2: Is there a program for win98se that will show me what is running and how much cpu it is taking? I found one (winwatch or something) but it only works for win95, it says. TIA ps I am glad to find your site.

gratitude

Post by hamb1028 »

hey it worked. I installed wintop and it told me my cpu was sending 96% to my modem-helper program. I remembered having this problem a long time ago when I downloaded a new driver for the modem...something about the old one not letting go. so I went into msconfig and the startup tab and clicked the modem program that should be running (the newer one). I restarted and ran wintop and went online again...and this time the cpu load for the modem was about zero. cool. thank you again.
