Jennifer Government: Nation States (my new hobby)

Post by Mr Toastz »

Hey all!<br><br>Just letting you know I'm participating in a new online game called Nation States.<br><br>You start out by answering a few questions, and the game decides what form of government you end up with. As the game progresses, decisions you make change the nature of your government and land in general, in a rather radical nature.<br><br>There is also a United Nations, but if you join this UN, any resolutions that are passed affect all UN members (i.e. compliance is not optional). Of course, you can always resign from the UN.<br><br>There are a few thousand people playing this at the moment, and I am currently in the Pyoko Region (My government is the <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em><!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>Federation of Tiki TribalTechnocrats</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--></em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END-->)... and looking for some K6ers to join in!<br><br>The game only requires a few minutes of attention each day (text based), as your government has a new issue or two each day (less if you choose a longer period between issues).<br><br>Most important: the game is FREE!!! Those wishing to join in should follow this link:<br><br><!--EZCODE LINK START--><a href="http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/ind ... <!--EZCODE LINK END--> <p></p><i>Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/bk6plus67153.s ... rtoastz>Mr Toastz</A>  <IMG HEIGHT=10 WIDTH=10 SRC="http://www.ezboard.com/ezgfx/gicons/black_ball.gif" BORDER=0> at: 12/23/02 2:17:56 am<br></i>

The Empire of Ngati-Porou

UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Excellent
Economy: Fragile
Political Freedoms: Some

The Empire of Ngati-Porou is a enormous, safe nation, notable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, cynical population of 357 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Defence, and Education. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government is avowedly atheist, guns are banned, political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations, and the tenet of free speech is held dear. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ngati-Porou's national animal is the Dog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Pawa.
