Anyone played Red Faction?

Post by georgep1 »

I thought it was great. It had a good storyline, unlike so many other first person shooters, great graphics and weapons, and the ability to "geomod" the environment (meaning you can blow holes in walls and floors leading to all kinds of cool possibilities). It was the most fun I've had in a FPS since Unreal and Half-Life.

It'll run on a Super7 system with a good video card, but you've got to turn the graphics down quite a bit. It ran great on my Athlon 1.4 GHz/GF3 rig.
Epox MVP3G5,K6-3+450@618,256MB SDRAM,CL GF2 GTS,IBM 60GXP 20GB,Fortissimo II Sound
ASUS TX97-XE,K6-3+450@500,256MB SDRAM,Voodoo4 4500 PCI,WD 30GB,SB AWE64 Sound

I've only played a demo/test months ago, but it looked kinda cool. Blowing holes in walls with the rocket launcher was pretty fun.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz@1.35GHz (9x150)
Iwill KK266
256MB Crucial PC133 CAS2 5-2-2
Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 4ns 234/530
Gateway EV910 19" monitor (1600x1200 .26mm)
Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB 7200rpm
Lite-On 24/10/40 CD-RW | Asus 40x CD-ROM | Toshiba 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Professional

The demo was really only good for demonstrating the geomodding, otherwise it was pretty short, and didn't really get into the storyline. Look for a bargain price on the full game. I think it's selling for $29 nowadays, and it's well worth that price.
Epox MVP3G5,K6-3+450@618,256MB SDRAM,CL GF2 GTS,IBM 60GXP 20GB,Fortissimo II Sound
ASUS TX97-XE,K6-3+450@500,256MB SDRAM,Voodoo4 4500 PCI,WD 30GB,SB AWE64 Sound
