I thank you for the posting of the picture, what I needed to be certain of is where exactly the 4 wires coming from the 3 prong end were inserted at the 4 plug molex end. The picture cuts off right at that part , I would humbly request a picture showing the plugs joined (or is it correct to assume that the yellow & red wires do connect inline to the power supply's yellow/red outputs) I am trying to rig up wiring to work for my Powerleap slot unit.KGB wrote:

DasMan, this is actualy my P3C-L motherboard with the Powerleap and Celery. Yes, I have stated before that the Tualatin and P3C-L stopped working. However, it seems to work wonderfully again![]()
The heatsink is a ThermalTake Volcano 7+, I had to remove the fan because, it blocked the first RDRAM Slot 1. This was also true in the P3B-F motherboard which has 4 dimm slots, and the Heatsink without the fan took up the first DRAM slot.

LMAO 90% of my eBay purchases are done in the remaining 30 seconds of the auction (leaves the winning bidder with a false sense of security)... so I guess that makes me a 'last minute Louie' though to be honest I prefer the title bidding sniper
I can't believe that a slot1 motherboard fetched such a high price OR that people were prepared to pay so much
So where does project SP-Z go from here?

1) I do that too, when possible. But 2 1/2 hours of cheap potshots, anybody who wants it bad enough can win. Just keep guessing. 2) It wasn't a slot 1 board it was a 370 socket. 3). Same place it was; 3rd in line behind a)SP3, b) SP2; during which time I shall be searching for an auction of the right merchandise which ends at a time either favourable to me, (off work hours local), or neutral, (Saturday, - when practically everyone in the world is off work irrespective of where they live). This I will NOT do! - I will never again run as a "pacesetter" for a seller who stacks his auction to favour people in particular time zones. If the seller wants to do that, let him get $34.00 for his board like the seller of another one of those boards did in November.

Minor progress report: The "Powerleap iP3T" adapter for the FIC KA-6100 arrived today, complete w/ power cable, so now I have both it and the "Slot T" available to use on this board. Probably endup using the Powerleap, if for no other reason than removing the CPU power draw from the mobo bus should help in keeping things working in other areas, (hopefully).

Yes it is; and will do; sometime tomorrow. Its 5:26 A.M. and I have to get up and do a call in the morning.
K. @ DasMan : I assume you don't have the power cord and are trying to fabricate one. Fine, the Power Plug is a 3 connector item wherein the pin nearest the processor socket gets a yellow wire, the centre pin gets TWO black wires, and the pin furthest from the processor socket gets a red wire. Hook those up to your power supply harness the same as if you were soldering in an extra IDE plug, (or plugging in a splitter), using IDE Plug guage wire; and you're done. i.e. Red to Red, Yellow to Yellow, and since the TWO Blacks Both go to the centre pin, It doesn't matter which goes to the 5v circuit Black, and which goes to the 12v circuit Black. (Weird that part of it).
This shot identifys the Slocket as the one in which you are interested.

This shot shows the detail of the power cord connection. The plug is correctly oriented as if to be inserted.

News : The 300 Watt IBM Power Supply that I bought on E-Bay has arrived; and is totally unsuitable for use in SPZ. WAY too big!! Didn't pay much for it, (shipping was more), so it's not much of a loss; but I have to get another one. Searching the net, I have located several sources for New, (unused), 300 Watt Antec "PP300V" AT supplies. Problem is for whatever reason, none of the sellers ships to Canada.
http://www.best-price.com/procProduct,s ... 87271.html
Sooo, question is : If I am willing to send a money order covering all costs in advance, are there any members here from the States who would be willing to order the requisite supplies, (plural, since they are NEW, figured I'd get 3 of them), and reship them to me? If someone is willing to do that please PM me.

Not willing to use an ATX PSU? You could probably get a more powerful ATX unit that would fit your case cheaper.
This Ebay vender has the PP300V and claims to ship to Canada:

@ uranium 235 : 1) Thanks! - That wasn't there yesterday. Been hunting the last few days and the only 300 Watt AT supplies on E-Bay were oversize units for large servers. Found out about the existance of the Antecs by going outside of E-Bay. 2) No I don't want to go ATX. 300 Watt AT supplies are not that common, you might say the are "Exceptional" as AT supplies go; and that is what I want my machines to be : - "Exceptional". Don't see how I could ever build an "Exceptional" ATX, could never afford to get all the latest stuff at once; and if bought piecemeal, it would be out of date by the time I accumulated everything. Would windup w/ a "run of the mill ATX". Truth is I will never build an ATX.
EDIT : Further rationalizations re sticking w/ an AT supply : 1) From the purist standpoint it is preferable to have the machine all AT. 2) The Antec should be a top quality supply, (High End AT), w/ the most "Features" and very stable output; yet at a low price because it is obsolete. Any ATX supply w/ comparable output power is likely to be rock bottom of the line, have minimal "features", w/ questionable quality and output stability; though cheaper. I know, cause I already have one of those.

I think these companies ship to Canada:

@ Slugjet : Thanks . Will get quotes from all 3 suppliers and see who is least expensive.
EDIT : Well it seems there's suddenly a rash of sellers w/ PP300V Antec 300 Watt AT supplies to sell on E-Bay. The cheapest, seems to be White Dragon, by virtue of their lower shipping costs. Order has been placed and paid for. Thanks all.

2nd FIC KA-6100 arrived today. Thanks King!!! Antecs, (x3), arrived yesterday. Bits and pieces are gathering.
Oddly, though this board was sold as "New", and looks new in every other respect, the caps on it do not look as good as those on my used one. None of them are bulging; but nor are the tops perfectly flat. Instead what we have is a reinforcing cross struck so hard into the top of the caps, that the result is a deep X surrounded by 4 mounds, which previously I had taken to mean caps starting to bulge.
Could be I was wrong about that, and instead what it shows, is a cap manufacturer who has been having problems w/ their caps; and has resorted to "reinforcing" the reinforcing cross by making it stronger and deeper to prevent the cap from bulging.

Hmmm . . I've never really paid a whole lot of attention to the caps on the motherboard (well, except for one dead one, but then the caps seemed perfectly flat).
On the other hand, having physically held the board in my hands, I can't imagine how anyone could get a used one to look that pristine.
If I were to guess, I'd say it's a manufacturing thing rather than a problem with the caps themselves.
Hopefully your testing will reveal the board to be new as advertised - or at least good enough that we can't tell the difference.
