So it "pays" to be logged in to post.

I know on some forums, if you are a site member, don't log in, but post, your count gets bumped.

NP...I always log in anyway (more features available)...but I was curious.

Thanks Nohr.

some forums I've been on don't allow posting of links or pics until after 7 days or so. I know phpbb has a mod that will expire users that sign up but aren't validated yet...might be worth a look if you are having spammer problems.

You could also put an account on bugmenot or something like that. Several forums maintain an account for guests that way.

Hey Nohr -

If (you or) I make a poll to allow guest access or not (to stop the SPAM)...will you abide by the "majority vote"?

Thanks.

If it comes to a vote, I will vote against the termination of "Guest Posting". That does not mean I like the spamming any more than you do; it just means that I think there has to be some less drastic solution. Other sites allow guest posting, and a lot of our members were guests for quite a while before they joined.

Keep in mind this forum is not being run by some giant corporation like AMD; and the people running it probably have limited resources. I did not follow up on my limited programming training, because I realized I am too slow a learner in a fast changing field; but if I had, I would volunteer to write a spam filter. Perhaps there is someone else who is a member here who might undertake that task?
