PLS Help to ged rid of bad sectors

Hi all,

Unfortunately I dropped my hdd and appeared some bad sectors on it. When you run scandisk in "through mode" it finds the unreadable sectors and marks them as bad. But what about the hardly readable sectors? It takes several seconds to read them, and however it's readable, it really slows down its performance.
So I'd need a program what also marks these slowly readable sectors as bad, and gain back the hdd's ~original performance. Now can;t use that hdd :/

Please, can anyone help me?
Google is our friend. I tried there too, but i don't know exactly what keywords i should search with... I only can find some crap software for $60 what is on the level of w*ndow's scandisk :/

Yeah, go to the Software and tweaking section here; and look for a post titled "THDD - Total Hardware Disk Doctor". In it you will find a link to download "THDD". Read the thread for user instructions. It allows you to mark any sector bad that you want to mark bad; and remap the drive so that scandisk won't see those sectors. If you can though, you should get a new drive, as you may have bent something, (shaft), on the impact. Still, it won't hurt to try THDD to see if that renders everything reliable again.

The HDD manufacturer *may* have a utility that can do this.

I never used THDD. Does it perform read/write pattern testing?

Thanks.

No on pattern testing. Only thing I have that can do that is Ami Diag. As for THDD its the best HDD checking software I've seen. See post for details of what it can do.
