Thankyou! According to that the ANZ is better than the ACZ when you compare the two datasheets information. That does not mean that every specimen of ANZ will be better than every specimen of ACZ; but on average they should be, as they both have the same maximun operating voltage rating of 2.1v; and they both have the same absolute maximum voltage rating of 2.2v.

Note that since there was no 550 ACZ produced according to the data I have seen, (550s were ACRs), then it is highly unlikely that there was ever a 550 ANZ produced.

Voltages and speeds

Post by Super7Dude »

Just throwing in some of my results.
My K6-III 450ACZ is 100% stable at 450MHz given 1.27v (according to gigabyte bios vcore reading). It was also rock solid in my AX59 Pro at 1.3v/450MHz.
It also reaches
500MHz stable at 1.5v
550MHz stable at 1.65v
and at 2.00v it reaches 600MHz.

This means this chip would easily pass as a 500ATZ :o (if such a chip existed).

I also have a K6-2+/570ACZ :lol: which is even better!
According to gigabyte bios, this beauty hits
500MHz stable at 1.43v
550MHz stable at 1.57v
and 600MHz stable at 1.87v :o
I was also able to get it to POST at 620MHz given 2.00v. The K6-III+ would not post even 5MHz above 600 with 2.2v.

Just my two chips (cents) :lol:

Super7Dude; Did you test running a game for 15 mins under those voltage settings? Any heat temps known at the speeds run ?

It is rather a good feeling to be able to run the Plus CPU's under voltage even only at 500 or 550 Mhz to keep them really cool 8) for the motherboards that do allow it at all.

if the 500anz does not boot well 600mhz @ 1,8V it is definitly not better than his acz brother at same nominal speed. i mean - if you can overclock the 450acz till 600 without raising the voltage, the 500acz should do 666 without big probs ... or am i wrong?
let us define the "best socket 7 processor" - lowest voltage for boot and full load @ 600 mhz. it makes it independent from system cooling ...
so its almost possible that a k6-2+ acz is the best one. but ok - we talk about the III+. and if the 550anz is true, he should make 600 at 1,8V.

All of those voltages/settings for both chips had orthos run 24 hours and they passed.. that's my measure of stability :).. I also ran 3DMark2001 without a problem once at the end :)

*edit* at the end of each CPU passing orthos at each above voltage

@kalabok

m ost later-manufactured + chips from AMD hit 600MHz. JUst because it's rated at a higher speed, doesn't mean it will overclock by any extra amount. I've heard reports of 400ATZ chips doing 600MHz but my 450ACZ also maxes out at 600MHz.

It is a matter of likelyhood. Yes there are 400ATzs that will do 600. Sylvan has one or more of them. So does Chips, I believe. On the other hand TA152H had 4 of them that wouldn't and another guy had one that took 2.4v to do it. Read the old posts and you will find that the 400ATZ is the least likely of the better known ones to make 600. I have had one of my ACZs up to 630, and another up to 618; and that was not maxing either of them. I ran into other problems. (RAM related)

I have a 2003 400ATZ chip and it gets maximum 577 (105x5.5). The year 2000 K6-III+/450ACZ chip running in this GA-5SMM runs at 630Mhz (105x6). As Jim says the 400's are not such a good bet as the 450's.

hello k6plus members,

i am thinking to get a III+ 450apz from ebay usa where 7 chips are availible today quite cheap (35 dollars). the problem is the shipping cost, it doubles the price, im quite sure there are better ways to send a cpu to europe.
the question is: is somebody interested in getting same chip? i would recommend to get the needed number from the seller and then reship it to your destinations. maybe someone from usa would manage this - if not, i would.

please tell me, who is interested. here is the link:

and: hurry up!

@Kalabok

I would suggest that you do not order the quantity yourself as you may get charged VAT on the imported goods. Check the charges for importing goods from the USA.

The way it works in the UK is like this

Any item or collection of items valued over £18 or about 27 euros gets charged VAT. VAT is charged in the UK at 17.5% on the value of the goods and the package and postal charge combined. This kind of restricts me to buying items at a value of 27 euros or less to avoid the excessive VAT charges.

Be careful!!
