Stabilty

So what do you folks use to stability test your overclocks?
Kakabok said that his was unstable @ 266 Mhz. Re bus and divider locks, you are getting over my head. Ask KachiWachi.
This post really made me wonder if burning in a K6 or Cyrix would help it out. Possible lower voltages and what not if memtest will pass.

and by burning in this is what I mean:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=382751
What you want to do is go to your maximum stable overclock. Take the usual volts and reduce them below what would normally be stable. However You want the voltage high enough that the PC will not crash for atleast a few hours during each session.
It usually takes a couple times to get the hang of it, but keep with it. While this is not GARUNTEED to work it does to some extent on any CPU reguardless of how old it is. As always your milliage *will* vary.
I believe hot cpu tester is the app or choice to burn in with.

Thoughts on this one?

I know superpi 32m and OCCT or considered "quick" tests for stability.

I've used HOTcpu a little before (I like the GUI), but generally test (overnight) with either Prime95 or SiSoft Sandra's burn-in suite ;)

Primarily I'm testing the physical stability of the motherboard(s) 'post-op' (replacing capacitors) so longer duration stability tests are my need/focus :D

BTW got your message r/t Beater Benching, sadly I no longer own any complete SS7 systems (save for the Cyrix firewall), I may endeavour to dig out a PIII-800 though ;)

I guess prime95 is one of the main stability testers out there. Re-capping a board... you must be one of the badcaps folks :D I'll be on the look out for your P3 Taz.

Prime95 in blend mode 12h hours for my vintage PCs, 24h if I have the patience, 48h if it's my work computer.

http://sp2004.fre3.com/ sp2004 is a better front end to prime95, with direct reads from MBM5. (the orthos variant is for dual core).

edit: the link to the normal version seems down, but you can also use orthos with only one core.
