Overclocking the K6 and Linksys wireless card noise?

Post by KHPower »

Hi everyone :D This forum has been so helpful compared to others with scoards more so I am here to stay :)

My laptop is overclocked to 501 mhz using a 475 + and about a month ago I installed a Linksys SRX 400 network card to go along with my router and ever since I have been having popping noises coming out of my speakers especially when the card is "working". I pulled it out several times to see if that was the problem and the noise stops :?

The noise can get real annoying and sometimes a touch scary

I installed this card around the same time as I figured out the dipswitches to overclock and I thought that had something to do with it but I dont think so because the computer's needed factory setting are in place other then the CPU overclocking. My Belkin card never did this and like I said I dont think it has anything to do with my CPU or any damage to the Mobo.

Any ideas?

AS always
Thankyou

Could be a latency issue. You do get that kind of thing sometimes with Creative soundcards in desktops. There are various cures out there for it, though I don't knoe if they are applicable to what you are getting with your laptop. I've never had a laptop, so I don't really know. The obvious suggestion is replace the Linksys with another Belkin.

Although I do like Belkin , this Linksys card is suited with my router and works awesome(other than the noise) It is Pre -N mimo so its a little up to date. The Belkin card I have is sort of newer , one of there best "G" cards and does not go well with the router , It works but just not as good as the Linksys.

I hope I can find a fix to the latency issue you described 8) Its a step forward ,
Thanks Jim

I will check for you soon , but if I were to be a betting man and remember correctly it does it also.

I am waiting for MS update to load what seems to be the 500th update :?

I am not sure what happened but now the noise level is greatly reduced

Although I did install a external power supply to run the fan and the K6-475+ stays very cool overclocked
