Can someone please run SPEEDSYS in Dos mode without L1 Cache

Post by Mau1wurf1977 »

Could someone do me a favour and boot your W95/98/ME into DOS mode and then get and run this benchmark:

This is for a "slowdown" project and I would like to know what speed a Socket 7 cpu would give me without L1 and / or L2 cache...

It will give you a cpu score just like this one: http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4663/dsc01618a.jpg

I'll see if I can get it to work this evening, but I can tell you from experience many years ago that if you disable the L1 cache on any CPU, it's going to function like an overclocked 386 starved for data. Not pretty...and useless for anything other than running in real mode.
FIC VA-503+, Rev. 1.2, AMD K6-III+ 450@550MHz, 80GB Seagate ATA-100, 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 TV, TB Montego II Quadzilla, Win98se, 384MB PC100

Compaq Presario 1273, AMD K6-III+ 450@400MHz 1.8v, 40GB Samsung 5400RPM, extremely hacked Win98SE, 288 (yes, 288!) MB RAM
(Also an AMD FX-8350, which does the heavy lifting these days...)

That's perfect!

It's for playing DOS Games from "386 era". Using ISA Sound Blaster cards and Roland midi modules and stuff like that
