PCCHIPS M599LMR Test

Post by duncan »

Hi,

just to give an impression of my actual projects:

I did find this mainboard short time ago, searching for mobos with SIS-chipsets. It has a FSB of 100, a horrible integratet AGP-solution with max. 8MB shared(!!) memory and, the absolute nonsense, a cacheable area of gigantic  64MB.

The solution was, of course, to put in one of my AMD K6III+/400. Graphic card I choose a newly found 3DLabs Oxygen VX1, just to see how far that one goes

So here we have some benchmark results:

...it seems, I can put only three pics into the post. So here we go...

As one can see, the K6III+ and the mainboard act as expected - on level with PII in speedsys, not really bad in Sandra.

The complete breakdown happens in 3DMark99 with the Oxygen. During the test, the "Race" - part went okay - but in "1st Person" it completely sagged down. Not being made for playing, that´s okay. And the filtering quality was quite good.

This is just a little "teaser" for what to come from me, maybe someone enjoys it.

You will find a lot of information how to get the best out of a SiS530 board from another thread at k6plus here.

the discussion will start from getting it work at all to 133mhz fsb, setting up of bios and chipset registers (from within windows via wpcredit/set -tool) to finally reach 600mhz cpu, 400mb/s memory read speed.

happy trying!

Hi @DonPedro,

thanks for taking some interest :D

a really great thread - but the mainboards used there are faaaar away from a PCCHIPS, I´d say.

I was looking for something better than what I got, but nobody seems to care about SIS of those days, so nobody replied to my search requests (in german forums "Dos reloaded", my <homebase>, and "dosforum").

I´ve got a PCCHIPS 570 (SIS5595) as well, which doesn´t go up to 100FSB, but is fun at 75 - with a decent AGP, cacheable area of 256MB "out of the box" aso. The k6-2/500 running easily along with 6x75=450 at 2.0V 8)

Hi,

being back after some health trouble, I just found out something interesting: This cheapo mainboard is the only one of my boards of that time taking 512MB SDRAM in one piece ;-)

Got three of them, useless for my "collection" of BXes aso. At least one is in use now ;-)

Greetings duncan

@DonPedro: ALL downloadlinks in the thread you showed me in your post above are gone. Where to find the stuff?!?

Hi @DonPedro,

first, thanks for the fast reply.

Looking for all the stuff you used for benchmarking, tweaking, tuning - my repertoire is only speedsys478, cachechk aso.

Lacking wpcredit, -set aso.

Hi @DonPedro,

thanks for that - since the "download"-section is available again, I'll search there around to get together what I need. Not sure tho that this benchmark-suite you used in the thread is there, so looking for that would be kind.

Greetings again, and thanks for your efforts, duncan
