Really cool Sphere. Great work! Makes me wonder if there is really any difference between most of the K6-2+ chips other than how the temperature rating (which is big) and how well they did in quality control. I have overclocked my 550ACZ for nearly 20 years . . . I never bothered with a 570 ACZ before because I figured it could do anything more than my 550. With a surplus of 570 ACZ chips on the market . . . I will buy a batch and try your mod--no reason to risk my more rare 550 ACZ.

Of course . . . what would really allow us to do a lot with these chips today (which are great workhorses) is if there were anyway to work around or implement SSE2 to allow use for web browsing in today's world (outside of the .1% of web pages and really old browsers that do not require SSE2). Unfortunately, architecture being set as is was . . . I see no way to do this.

It is possible to compile some linux setups to work on modern websites I believe. Magia? I think is decent out of the box for this but I have no first hand experience with this.

Btw, new development. As an extension to this it seems that we were able to create a totally new processor by moving the upper jumper. It gives a as of yet unknown cpu id number. Talking with chkcpu about adding it to the program so we might one day see if any examples exist in the wild.
