Compatibility list still in use!
Hey, just thought you all might like to hear...

Turns out over the course of the past two weeks I've gotten three questions from different people about use of the K6-2+ and K6-III+ CPUs in their systems.

Answered them to the best of my ability, with the note that I really only get the info secondhand.

Still, turns out people are still interested in keeping their old systems going, and in using these CPUs

--------------------
FIC PA-2013 2.0 E-O036, K6-2+ 450 @ 500 1.9V

FIC PA-2013 2.0 E-O036, K6-III 333 @ 350 2.2V

Acer Quasi-proprietary Mid-Tower with P-II 266
Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub70.ezboard.com/bk6plus67153.s ... ykingv>His Royal Majesty King V at: 11/19/02 11:59:33 pm

Re: list still good
Good to hear. It's so quiet at amdzone and here now compared to the past that it's difficult to know how many people are out there trying to upgrade their old socket7s.

I have a k6+475 cpu installed in the above mb. I have been accumulations the parts to replace my M598 w/a cyrix 333.
I keep seeing the list of mb utilities. I have not been able to determine if I need to install any of these utilities.

I finally got a new 40gb hard drive for this new mb & cpu. When reinstalling software the system does not reboot. It sometimes gives me a double beep & I need to turn off the power & turn the system back on.

Any thoughts? Thanks, Bill Neurauter

I'm not really sure.

I have been told that the MB utilities also can tell you whether or not the features such as Write Allocation, are set to take the most advantage of the + processors.

Maybe someone can offer a bit more guidance?

Not sure about the problem rebooting.

Your motherboard should have most of the settings enabled for that CPU. However, I think you should download the 4-way memory interleave enabler from George's Creations link in the Links section (different George<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

It will improve memory performance on your motherboard.
Epox MVP3G5, K6-3+450@618, 256MB SDRAM, CL GF2 GTS, IBM 60GXP 20GB, Fortissimo II Sound

ASUS TX97-XE, K6-3+450@500, 256MB SDRAM, Voodoo4 4500 PCI, WD 40GB, SB AWE64 Sound

ASUS A7N8X Dlx, Athlon XP 2400+, 512 Crucial DDR, Radeon 8500, WD 80GB SE, onboard sound/LAN
