Re: EPoX MVP3G5 memmory

Hey I'm still around! :-)

IIRC, the VIA MVP3 chipset likes low density RAM as this is how I got 768MB to boot on the MVP3G5.

ATI Radeon 8500DV in my SS7 rig. Still a great graphics card for SS7 systems.

Hi Taz.

I'd say that'd be a job for my Brother to do, as I'm unable to use my hands. I'll ask him and see what he thinks about repairing blown caps on motherboards.

Thanks for your ideas Taz.

Hi guest. Thanks for your replies. At the moment I have put my ATI Radeon 9700 back in the Epox G5 Motherboard along with a SB Audigy 2 Value. The Gigabyte GA-5AA now has the GF4 Ti4800. I've tried the 7x.xx series of drivers, but even these cause a memory crash in the NV4_DISP.DLL file. I'm thinkin...

The Epox MVP3G5 gets my vote as I use this motherboard in my main PC which I use daily. I use the latest BIOS on this MB with a K6-III+ 450 ACZ and have no stability issues.

Hi guys, Just adding to this thread that I have ran the Radeon 9700 non-pro version as the highest end videocard in my EPoX G5 SS7 System. I found the performance to be better than the GF3 with the K6-III+@450MHz, due to faster memory and core speeds on the Radeon 9700. The best drivers were the Cat...

Hey guys, I have put together another SS7 system with the Geforce 5700U on a Gigabyte GA-5AA Rev 3.2 with a K6-2+@450MHz, 512MB PC133 RAM, SBLive Value Sound Card, Realtek RTL8139 Network Card, an IBM 40GB Hard drive and Teac 32x CD-Rom Drive. I have loaded XP Pro slipstreamed with SP2. and used the...

Update to the Forceware 56.xx and newer drivers problem, I have found that if I run the drivers in PCI mode, OpenGL games work but a little bit slower than in AGP 2x mode with the 53.81 Forceware drivers. Direct3D games still lockup in fullscreen mode but rolling back to the 53.81 drivers solve this...

Geforce FX series memory conflicts on SS7 MBoards?

Hey K6'ers, Having recently won a Geforce FX 5700Ultra for £58 on ebay, I thought I would give it a try in my EPoX MVP3G5 with a K6-III+ 450MHz. The system booted fine with it in, but when it came to installing the video driver in 98se and XP Pro, it would install ok but be stuck in 4-bit colour due...

Cake,

I tried installing the Via AGP Filter driver. but it made no difference whatsoever.

Wiggy,

For me 56.64 and newer has better 2d performance than 53.81 and older on my system. Just a shame I can't use them.

Thanks for the replies guys. However, trying the 56.64 FW drivers in XP resulted in the same crash. I get a blue screen saying the problem is with nv4_disp.dll the same as FW 6x.xx. This is on a clean install too. I have discovered that OpenGL works but very slowly, about 1 frame every 30 seconds. I...

Nvidia Forceware 6x.xx drivers crashes on K6 cpu's?

Hey K6'ers,

After trying most of the FW 6x.xx series drivers on Win 98SE/Win XP Pro, they all seem to lock up on my GF4 4800SE. Using drivers 53.81 and lower run with no problems.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with the K6 cpu's?

Thanks,

Steve

Anybody seen this website?

Hi guys, I was just browsing through the acorn newsgroups and I came across this website http://www.expresspcb.com/ExpressPCBHtm/Specs.htm . I was thinking maybe they could design a SS7 motherboard with an up to date chipset and the other features of a Socket A motherboard. I realise it would be was...

Hate to say this RevHead, but I owned 2 Samsung DVD drives which both refused to read DVD's. In the end I threw them out in the garbage and got me 2 Lite-on DVD drives, no problems since.
