A follow-up to my earlier post--see the linked document at Microsoft's site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q253912/) and note its comment about system boot problems with "large amounts of RAM". Maybe the vcache upper and lower limits could help.

I thought that I remembered seeing something about a WinMe system limit of 512MB for RAM. Just a quick search turned up this post http://experts.about.com/q/PC-hardware-CPU-1023/Increased-Memory.htm. If you do go with 512MB, look at this article on Me memory management http://aumha.org/win4/a/memmgm...

The fellow with the 24 CPUs for sale also had 3 separate listings of the 500ANZ CPUs as "BUY IT NOW" - which I did. You are right, though, the prices are all over the board. However, the demand (and price) seems to have cooled somewhat on eBay. Eeyeww-- just noticed that I gotta up date my...

A quick update for my 400 ATZ... Still using the MVP3G2 mobo and a mismash of 3 x 128MB RAM modules, but did finally put a larger HSF on the CPU. Never could get the CPU/mobo/RAM to run stably at 600MHz (or above) using W2KPro. Got a "little" miffed with Microsoft and all the continuing vi...

Been out of town for a while...

My mobo is an EPoX EP-7KXA (not the "+"). It is still resting quietly at the EPoX retirement home. Mobo is the Apollo KX133 chipset, and supports AGP 2X and 4X, 768MB PC133 max RAM, 200MHz FSB, UDMA/66, 5 PCI, USB 1.1, onboard sound.

To ssnjimb: I've been working on my home PCs, so I have not been keeping up with the various BBS. Since you purchased your Slot A board I would guess that no interest in my EPoX? Hey, when I reply to messages now, the "Topic review" just displays the following: Template->make_filename(): E...

I am an EPoX fan, so my old Slot A board is an EP-7KXA+ board. I still have it and a couple of CPUs for it.

Don't know if it is the best board, but its what I like.

What OS, mobo, and BIOS are you using? A modded BIOS? How are your BIOS boot options set?

I use memtest86+ version 1.51 most of the time, but sometimes will use memtest86 version 3.2 if I can't find 86+ easily.

Error count: Varied by module and selections made in FSB/RAM BIOS settings/external cache on or off. Most errors occurred in the final stages (98% completion) of Test 5. Some modules errored out in Test 7, third most errors occurred in Test 8, and lastly in Test 3. I always tested a single module at...

I've tried several different modules of PC133 256MB RAM (I think CL2 mostly) in my EPoX MVP3G2 board and ran memtest86+ at different FSB and RAM timings (my BIOS selections are somewhat limited). Most seem OK at 100MHz or 112MHz, running several passes with no errors, but anything higher (124MHz or ...

Jim,

Pricing is USD $58 + "X amount" for miscellaneous charges? I am looking for any PC133 that will pass memtest86+ on my board when run at 124MHz FSB.

I am interested in a couple of sticks at the moment.

I'm in - let me know the price. Do you have a ball-park price? If so, then I can be more specific as to quantity.

External cache set to "Enable" in the BIOS?

Running at a 100MHz FSB?

Jim,

I am interested in some as well (price will determine quantity), assuming that it is compatiable with PC100 motherboards. I have found that many memory producers no longer offer PC133 modules that are PC100 compatiable. Crucial RAM is, but is pricey.
