That's exactly the M.B. I upgraded for someone to a AMD K6-III 450 when the AMD K6-2 450 "+" CPU did not work in it. Actually caused the BIOS to jam up. Had to Clear CMOS or even had to hold down the special "Ctrl - Insert or Home" keys to get the CMOS to reset. The guy placed i...

Generally only high end server and workstation boards support registered RAM. This is more than likely your problem.

Perhaps the ECC ram you have is registered, instead of unbuffered? This might not work. Some description of the difference can be found here...

The difference between 3 and 4 would seem to be the MBR is not erased by FDISK, unless you use the fdisk /mbr command. So probably if 3 doesn't work, but 4 does, the MBR is screwed up. It seems as if an OS has already been loaded on a HD, FDISK with no options will not erase the MBR. I'm not an expe...

Well , well. DFI says the suckers do support ECC Ram !! I even sent them a summary of what you, (George), said, what Sandra reported, and what happened when I tried it. They sent me an attachment which I haven't had time to read yet. Addendum: Well I read it. Says for ECC they support 3x 168 pin &q...

Addendum: I just went into the bios; and found that the setting is : "Memory ECC Function". I set it enabled, (for the first time), then ran Sandra to see if I still got messages regarding ECC. I got two. 1) System Memory Controller -- Error Correction Capability -- None 2) Performance Ti...

My guess is the RAM won't work. I don't think any super7 boards are able to use ECC...but you could prove me wrong. The ECC setting in BIOS has to do with L2 cache probably. See this for more explanation...

I've done many an install running K6Speed without any problems. The effective result of running it is that it's more like a BIOS setting than a memory resident program.

I hadn't heard a lot of problems with SS7 boards and capacitors. Lots of KT133/a KT266/a, newer BX boards, Apollo Pro, etc. But I guess it makes sense since the problems really started cropping up in 2000 and 2001 so any board manufactured during that timeframe may be suspect.

What monaro said is unfortunately the case for nvidia cards. GF3 or less, or just about any Radeon should work okay.

Not sure if this would work for you or not...but the entire IE6 download should be at:

But it might want to connect in a weird way too. Good luck.

Effectively no. You can enable speculative write ordering with some of the tweak utilities, but it gains no performance. There may also be ways of optimizing write combining, but the only video card I've seen that benefits from that was the voodoo series.

Yes, that should be a good card for the system you have. Obviously you are not going to be playing any high end games with that system and that card, but you should be able to play a lot of games that were made before, and some into the year 2000. And it's a much better card than the one you current...

Welcome madbilly, I have an Epox G5 and tried the modded BIOS. Yeah, it has 8 way interleave as an option, but when selecting it, there was no performance difference. As for AGP 8X cards, I've had a 9500Pro in the G5 and it ran nice, but the G5 is more tolerant of high end AGP cards than a lot of Su...
