Any way to increase max FSB of EP-58MVP3C-M???

Post by CanuckBoy »

hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows a way to increase the FSB of the Epox EP-58MVP3C-M beyond 100 MHz. The manual only says it goes up to 100, but I've noticed other Epox boards (MVP3C-2, MVP3G-2) have FSB of 103 Mhz or more.

Any ideas?

Well, heres hoping! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)">

Thanks...

CanuckBoy

AMD K6-III+ 450@ 600MHz 2.0V
Epox EP-58MVP3C-M
128 MB PC100
3dfx VooDoo3 3000 AGP
30 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM

Have you tried using CPUCool yet?

Your board should have a .pll chip that has speeds over 100 MHz. CPUCool will allow you to change your FSB speed while in whindows.

www.podien.de

This is how a lot of us access those undocumented speeds (using CPUFSB, CPUCool, or other utility)
My sig

I'm not sure, but I don't think there is a FSB potential over 100 mhz for that mobo. There is no explicit entry for that motherboard in the CPUFSB program database.

However, the programmer for CPUFSB has a page that describes how to find and identify your PLL chip. If you can identify it, there may be support for it in CPUFSB, even without an explicity named entry for that mobo in their database. The page is at:

w ... the PLL

Thanks....I have tried CPUFSB a while back and wasn't able to find my board or PLL chip on it.

I will try again and see if the newer version of the program supports it.

I'll send the author of that prog my specs and maybe he can add it to the list.

If not, 600 Mhz isn't that bad.....

Your board does not necessarily need to be listed

The program uses the board ID mostly to assign a PLL to the software. You can manually choose the PLL once you have selected any old epox board, should yours not be listed.

I had this problem back when CPUCool only showed the P5BV3+. I just changed the IC controller chip after letting the program thing it was a P5 board and not a K6 board.
