Problem with EP-MVP3G-M

Post by Stedman5040 »

I have recently installed this Epox board with a K6-3+/500 cpu. Problem I get is when I either run Everest or Sandra 2004 the computer crashes. This happens every time when the system is interogated for data from the sensor. This is the first time I have seen it with any SS7 board that has a sensor. The sensor on this board is a winbond chip.

I have no problem running the benchmark programs in either sandra or everest.

Never encountered anything like that. Two things come to mind. 1) Your board is in some way defective. 2) It may be something peculiar to Epox. You might try to contact Sylvan2626 as he has a number of Epox boards.

Stedman,

What are you running on the mobo? (Meaning which BIOS, RAM amount, OS, etc.) Also, which version and release of Everest? Are you overclocking the CPU?

@Sylvan

I am not overclocking this board severely. At the moment it is running at 550MHz with a K6-3+/500ANZ. The memory onboard is 512Mb consisting of 2x256mb cl2 hynix pc133 ram. I did try 3x128mb of cl2 hynix ram but it still crashes in everest and in sandra if anything has to interogate the hardware.

The build of Everest I am using is v2.20.405 but it also fails on the 466 beta build too.

The Epox USDM software runs just fine as does everything else I am running at the moment.

Regards,

Stedman

1. Try bumping the CPU back to its stock voltage and multiplier. Let's see how that goes with Sandra and Everest. I've had a similar problem when I was playing around with a K6-2+ 450ACZ (on a PC CHIPS M598) and a K6-III+ 450ACZ (on an EP-MVP3G2). I was overclocking both to 550MHz and had crash problems on Everest and Sandra. Changed to 500MHz and they would run. I will see if I can find which version of Everest that I was running at the time.

2. I think that I have an EP-MVP3G-M, a K6-III+ 500ANZ, the 2x256mb cl2 hynix pc133 ram, and a spare HDD. What OS are you using? If need be, I might could cobble together a system (no case though - I would have to take apart one of my systems).

3. For my own curiosity-which BIOS are you running? And a 2MB or 1 MB BIOS chip?
